Wireless Broadband

It seems our appetite for bandwidth is insatiable. Dialup modems have topped out at 56 Kbps and ISDN service is not available in most locations. Newer technologies, such as DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) and cable modems, that offer transmission speeds of megabits per second are becoming available in many metropolitan areas; however, most rural and some metropolitan areas do not now and may never have these high speed services. This is where Wireless Broadband Service comes into play.

Wireless Broadband Internet access uses radio frequency bands. Wireless broadband modems offer similar performance to cable modems operating over wired cable television systems (CATV), but the wireless business is easier to enter because the transmitters can cover an entire city or region.

A broadband wireless system can deliver high volume data capacity to any customer. The wireless system's strength is that it can quickly provide high burst speed Internet access to a 5 - mile radius depending on the frequency band used. This allows WISP service providers to compete with CATV and satellite providers in serving both the home customer and the business customer in smaller markets (populations of less than 50,000). The CATV coaxial-cable plant typically services residential neighborhoods and may not serve the premium business customers. Plus, CATV is essentially a “one way path” system that has been retro-engineered to be bi-directional.

Some of the pluses Wireless Broadband provides are:

  • DEDICATED 24-HOUR CONNECTION eliminates the hassle of having to “dial-up” every time an Internet connection is required. Your customers, home or business, will have an “always on” connection to the Internet.
  • NO TELEPHONE CHARGES. Customers can say “goodbye” to monthly telephone charges for Internet access. With Wireless Broadband you no longer have to deal with the telephone company for your Internet needs.
  • SPEEDS UP TO 1.5MB. Wireless Broadband offers speeds over 10 times current dial-up connections. Connections are comparable in both speed and price to DSL and cable solutions.
  • CHEAPER THAN LEASED LINE SOLUTIONS. Fixed Wireless utilizes new innovative technology that allows it to be more than half the cost of current leased line and hardwire solutions.
  • GREAT FOR CONNECTING MULTIPLE BUILDINGS. Fixed Wireless Broadband is an efficient and cost-effective for connections to the Internet or connecting two or more buildings together.
