After starting and selling several small companies, Mr. Prinz became interested in the brokerage business. In 1988 after Mr. Prinz had established himself in the brokerage business he purchased EDI Financial. Since then he has built EDI Financial into a modest-sized national brokerage firm.

Jack M. Senators, Congressmen and other local and foreign state government officials to garner support for the Company’s business plan.

John Shaunfield, Principal - 58, received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University (1969). He has taken graduate courses in both engineering and management from Lamar University and the University of Texas (Dallas). Mr. Shaunfield has been one of the pioneers in the field of fiber optics and photonics for over 27 years. He designed the first fiber optic LAN in 1974/1975 and built one of the first Passive Optical Networks (PON) in 1975. In 1987, he was one of the first to combine voice and data in the same network. Also in 1987, he built one of the first dual ring systems. In 1990, he designed one of the first SONET Add Drop Mux’s (ADM). Mr. Shaunfield holds patents for Passive Optical Networks (PONS) as well as for a Switchable Multi-Drop Video distribution system using SONET. He also holds a patent related to oil field production. Mr. Shaunfield has been instrumental in several successful start-up ventures involving Fiber Optics:

  • In 1987 he was one of the founders of Opcom, Inc. where he was instrumental in the development of a dual ring product that could support up to 64 nodes in a single ring. This product delivered voice (POTS, T1, E1), Low speed data (RS-232, RS-422, V.35) and High-speed data (Ethernet) in the same network on the same fiber. This product was upgraded to a SONET product in 1991.
  • In 1993 he was one of the founders of Electronic Communications Systems (ECS). ECS developed OC-1 and OC-3 SONET products and was sold to Intelect Network Technologies in 1995.
  • In 1998 Mr. Shaunfield was one of the founders of GNS, Ltd, a fiber optic company that developed a fiber DLC product for the Asian marketplace. Vianet Technologies acquired GNS in 1999.

Mr. Shaunfield has been involved in numerous fiber optic projects over the years. These include the following:

  • Rockefeller Center (1988) – Installed the first dual fiber ring system carrying voice, low speed data and Ethernet traffic for use in building automation and control.
  • Monorail at Disney World (1989) - Installed a dual fiber ring to control power distribution.
  • New York Airports (3), as well as Houston, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles International (1989-1992) - Installed fiber optic communications systems.
  • Honda Test Track (1989) - Installed a dual ring fiber optic system for communications.
  • Alaska Pipe Line (1997) - Installed a fiber optic system for communications and control.

Todd Grassi, Principal - 39 years, received his B.B.A. Degree in Marketing from Sam Houston State University in 1988. Over the past 10 years Mr. Grassi has been instrumental in developing and executing both marketing and sales strategies for small to startup companies in the telecommunications industry. He has a proven track record of successfully launching newly developed fiber optic products into the domestic and international marketplace through distribution channels and direct sales. Mr. Grassi successfully launched the sales and marketing campaign for the fiber optic multiplexer that Mr. Shaunfield designed, developed and sold to Intelect Network Technologies. As V.P. of Sales for Intelect, Mr. Grassi was responsible for rebuilding Intelect’s sales force from the Air Traffic Control marketplace to the SONET fiber optic multiplexer space. Mr. Grassi’s campaign netted $3,000,000 in fiber optic sales the first 6 months and $30 million in fiber optic sales the following 12 months. After their success at Intelect, Mr. Grassi and Mr. Shaunfield founded GNS, Ltd. Mr. Grassi built the same type of marketing and sales structure while Mr. Shaunfield designed and developed a revolutionary fiber optic product for the traditionally copper Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) marketplace. GNS, Ltd. was sold to Vianet Technologies in December of 1999. As principals of the Company, Mr. Grassi and Mr. Shaunfield, together with John Malone, Ric Brown and their team provide the knowledge and expertise to perform site surveys, design the site service area plans, install the towers and assist the ISPs to operate and maintain the systems and install the end-user receivers and remain on the cutting edge of data transmission technology.
